The Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club confirmed today that their challenge for the Louis Vuitton 38th America’s Cup, Naples, has been accepted by the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, being the sixth in strict line of entry. The fleet is now consisting of seven entries contesting America’s Cup in Naples, the largest number since the 2007 America’s Cup in Valencia.
Team Australia, along with backing from John Winning and family will be representing the Royal Prince Edward Yacht Club. In other news today the team confirmed that Tom Slingsby, the Olympic gold medallist and ‘twice World Sailor of the Year’ would be joining the team as Head of Sailing. In addition to Tom the three-time Cup winner Glen Ashby also joins the team as Head of Performance & Design. Grant Skinner is appointed as Chief Executive officer of Team Austalia.
